So now that you've seen this possibly illegally filmed video, what's your opinion? Mine, well, I'm a little confused here. Those are full on machine guns pointing at the pasty bastard. What gives, is he really on par with Hannibal the Cannibal? This makes very little sense to me, albeit completely interesting. Is this how all convicted murderers are handled inside prison in the U.S.?
Prison Bodybuilding The Lowdown on Getting Huge on Lockdown...Part 1
You have seen inmates and ex-cons depicted in movies and television. Men hardened by the cruelties and isolation of stone walls. You have seen them in news footages and documentaries. And though they come from different walks of life the majority of them have one common denominator.
They are big. Not just big, but huge! Sleeve-ripping, button-popping mass that looks like muscle piled upon muscle. Their shirts look too small to cover their melon-sized shoulders and biceps seem ready to rip through stretched sleeves.
All men are created equal but they sure do not go to prison that way. Some are overweight or skinny or weak. Their physiques are shaped by years of neglect, abuse, and disuse. I know. I have seen it first hand. For seven years I ate at the same table with them. I dealt cards, pitched washers and, yes, lifted weights with them. And the one thing I noticed, the one constant throughout the years was that men get big in prison and big men get bigger.
So how does it come to be that two almost identical gyms--the one in your hometown and the one surrounded by barbed wire--produces two distinctly different success ratios? And don’t get me wrong, I have seen some big, big men in gyms all across this country. And I have seen some remarkable results right in my own back yard. But just watch the membership of your local gym; how many of those that join actually get the results they are looking for? Maybe ten percent of the membership puts on the size, or takes off the weight, that they desire. That’s one in ten.
The results I saw in prison were closer to ninety percent! That’s nine out of every ten men ending up reaching their goals--and usually in very short order. It was not uncommon to see someone gain twenty, thirty, sometimes even forty pounds of rock-solid muscle in less than a year. In fact, the results were so astonishing that the Missouri Department of Corrections replaced all free weights with machines because inmates were becoming too big and too strong in too short of a time. Well, we soon found out that machines worked just as well. We got just as big and just as strong, just as fast. All we needed was progressive resistance and desire.
THE MIND SET
The first place visited by a new arrival is the weight room. They come because of curiosity or pent-up frustration and energy. On many occasions it is due to the drastic change of lifestyle; that lifestyle being dictated by circumstance rather than choice. But the number one reason, so it seems to me, is because of fear. Let’s face it, jail is the last place any of us wants to be. Besides, when was the last time you heard a good story about what it was like behind ‘The Walls’. There are lots of negative attitudes and plenty of apprehension and no one, I mean no one, escapes the feeling of being watched, of being marked as the next victim. So the survival instinct takes over, leading the large and the small to desire more mass and strength. Hey, everyone is already watching, might as well show them there is no free ride here.
With that attitude you can understand why heavy weights are used almost exclusively. Sweat, guts and glory amount to absolutely nothing unless they are left on the gym floor. Nothing is taken back to the cell block. Nothing. If the man next to you cleans 300 pounds then you do your best to clean 305. And everyone at ‘the iron pile’ is a competitor; they do not care what you lifted yesterday. It’s all about what you do today.
I use that same mindset even today. The competition may not be as intense in the local gym but if I can get just one more rep or one more pound then I am a better man than I was the day before.
A few favorites from ‘the inside’
Now that you know what goes on inside an inmates mind -- twenty four hours a day! -- you can probably imagine the level of intensity he uses to rip those poundage’s free from gravity.
And if you use that same intensity -- that deep-down, raw instinct that refuses to give way to failure -- then I guarantee you too will make terrific gains using one or all of these programs...
Q: I have a question about straps... Before I go up any further in weight, I try to perfect my form so that I can really handle the weights and get out all I can. I’m now up to 250 on my deadlifts and my grip can’t handle more than 3 reps, though I can! I’m just hesitant to use straps because then I’ll always need them. Straps or no straps bro, what do you think?
A: Okay, I’m actually pretty happy you asked me this, because it addresses something I hear as a theme fairly often and it makes no sense to me! First off, training aids, like belts, straps, wraps, etc.. were created to “assist” in the lifting process. I think it’s the inherent macho of bodybuilding that causes people to eschew their use. But really, think about it... You say, “I don’t want to use training aids as a crutch” to get to 300 lbs. But I ask you this: How can you lift 300 pounds without a training aid? One hand washes the other. The misconception that training aids are a crutch is ridiculous. Sure, if you used them all the time, maybe you could claim that you were using them as a crutch. But when you wrap your legs prior to a squat that is DAMN heavy, are you crutching it, or are you merely insuring that you do not blow out a knee? Sure, training as far as you can without a wrap, strap or belt is great, but sometimes, it’s fool-hearty to think that you don’t need anything to help you out.
Why take a chance of a knee collapsing or a wrist failing you and you dropping a bar on your forehead or windpipe, or shins? It doesn’t make any sense. I ask, Why hold back your muscles from progressing because you have some macho hang-up about using accouterments? These rigid beliefs and myths only serve to hurt us. What you can try if you’re dead set against using straps until the last possible minute is to use a different grip, such as an “alternating grip” or strengthen the grip you have now. Use static grippers, static holds, or hang as long as you can from the chin bar and keep topping the bar over with your hands and holding your wrists as tight as possible. This will all help, but you can relent and use a training aid if it means you’ll add more mass to your frame. I just think it’s ironic that people “cheat” by taking AAS, but call using straps “cheating”.
Q: I’ve been on Tridenosen for 6 weeks now and recently had my test levels checked against a test I did this past summer. The results were impressive. My test levels went from 371 (371mg per deciliter of blood) to 511. This isn’t bad considering I’m 48 years old! Why is Tridenosen turning up my test levels?
A: The reason Tridenosen is turning up your test levels is because your hypothalamus (the part of the brain responsible for hormone production) is being turned on due to an increase in 5-Adenosine-triphosphate. 5-ATP is pure cellular energy and when the body has an abundant supply of it, every function in the body works better, including endocrine function, which has a direct correlation on testosterone levels! Additionally, 5-Adenosine-triphosphate increases cAMP (Cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate) that also assists in increased endocrine function and numerous other metabolic reactions including all important enzyme function and formation. Q: I have Test Enthanol and Test Propionate and I'm mixing the oils in a 1cc of test enthanol/500mg and 1/2 a cc of the prop/ 250mg, will it inject okay or is it a bad idea to mix the two? Also, can I put B12 in with it too to take the sting out of the shots, or is that pushing it?
A: No, it wouldn’t be ill advised. Both are about the same atomic weight - suspended in the same oil - and will inject just fine. As far as the B12, I understand that you want to use the B12 to take the sting out of the propionate, but the truth is, it’s only the first two weeks that are bad with the sting factor. However, since I don’t know your personal pain threshhold, it’s a good idea. But if you’re going to do that, do the Prop with the B12 and shoot the Test Enanthol separately or with another AS in your cycle. Once you load up the syringe, you’re somewhat committed even if you choose a bad site, or if you hit a nerve, etc.. so the more you load a syringe, the more you risk wasting what’s in it, or overloading a site. Sure, the first two mesh together well in terms of atomic weight, and B12 is a little lighter, but it too would work out. It’s just that you have to think about what happens when you overload an injection site. No one likes to feel more pain than they have to, but you almost set up a condition of more pain, or another chance of it, despite trying to kill the pain of the actual Prop injection. Try to gut out the pain of the Prop injection for the first two weeks and if it still persists, then try your way of adding B12.
Q: Okay, so I’m confused... With DHEA, and DMG, and all of the other supplements that sound the same, what does DMAE do?
A: DMAE is an attention deficit supplement. It is supposed to alleviate the behavioral problems and hyperactivity associated with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). DMAE actually increased attention span and decreases aggression, while improving learning ability. It also decreases anxiety and increases alertness.
